6 Car Detailing Secrets for Car Owners

As a car owner, you know that you spend a significant amount of time in your vehicle. We understand this and want to make sure you're taking care of it in the best ways possible.

We also know that it can be difficult to find tips on how to take care of your car when it's not in showroom condition.

That's why we wrote this blog post, 6 Car Detailing Secrets for Car Owners - so you can keep your baby looking new!

1) Inspect the Whole Vehicle

The first step is to inspect your vehicle. Check every inch of it for dirt, debris, or anything that might cause damage if left alone. Take note of every issue you find so you can take care of it once you start the detailing process.

2) Start With the Interior

You should start with your interior because it's normally more work than you think. Dirt, debris, and stains can be difficult to remove if they're left to set in for too long. So before you do anything else, start with a good vacuum through the inside.

Then, you can move on to the carpet and other fabric surfaces, ending with a final polishing of the center console and dashboard.

3) Hand Wash Only (Classic car owners)

Don't use a pressure washer, power washer, or anything like that for the exterior of your classic car - and DEFINITELY don't take it to an automatic car wash. All of these can strip the paint off your classic car and even warp or damage certain areas of the chassis!

Instead, take some time to hand wash the outside. We have a very useful cleaner to help with this, but we'll save that for later...

4)  Stay in the Shade While Cleaning

When it comes to detailing and cleaning your car, the sun is your enemy. The heat from the sun causes soap and water to dry much faster, leading to streaky and spotted paint all over.

For these reasons, you'll want to stay in the shade while washing and detailing your classic car - even if that means bringing a pop-up tent onto the driveway!

5)   Wash from Top to Bottom

Cleaning the car from top-to-bottom is a thorough way of getting off any dirt, grime, or mud that has been left on your vehicle.

Start at the roof and work your way down to the pavement beneath you. You'll want to avoid washing in circles as this can cause streaking and smearing.

Pay special attention to the front and rear of your car as these areas typically see more dirt than anywhere else on your vehicle!

6) Use Bugs N'All to Remove Those Tough Stains

Bugs N'All is a great product for treating not only your vehicle's exterior but also the interior! This multi-purpose cleaner can be used on any surface of any vehicle (even carpets) and is great for dealing with dried bug splatter, oxidation marks, grime, dirt, and almost anything else!
